Embrach Mustangs – Therwil Flyers 0-4, 2-21

Game One
Game one in the Saturday double header between the Therwil Flyers and the Embrach Mustangs was a hard fought game all the way to the finish. Both starting pitchers did a tremendous job, keeping hitters off balance and battling the whole game. Both teams were unable to score any runs until the third inning when Sebastian Zwyer and Taka Oshima had consecutive one-out singles. Following a groundout and an intentional walk, the bases were full with two outs and Stefan Koller at the plate. Koller broke the scoreless game open with a sharp single to center field, scoring Zwyer, but Oshima was unable to score from second and was thrown out at the plate.
Neither team was able to score any runs until the sixth inning when JB Tucker was walked, stole second, reached third on a throwing error by the catcher, and then was balked home by starting pitcher Roger Savoldelli. The Flyers starting pitcher, Stefan Koller, pitched a tremendous game. Koller kept the Mustangs offense quiet for the entire game, by getting ahead of hitters and mixing up his pitches very well. Koller went 7 innings of four hit baseball while striking out nine. Flyers reliever Adrian Kaufmann came in the game and pitched the final two frames only giving up one hit. The Flyers added two more insurance runs in the top of the ninth inning to push the total to four. Hitting standouts for the game were Taka Oshima, who finished with two singles in four at bats and JB Tucker who finished the day going 1-2 with 2 BB. Final score of game one was 4-0 in favor of the Flyers.
Game Two
Game two of the day started off with an offensive explosion. The Flyers started off the game with a nine run first inning that was made up of 13 hitters reaching the plate for seven hits, one walk, and two errors. After setting the tone, the Flyers offense never looked back. The second inning was very similar to the first, the Flyers scored seven more on five hits, two walks, and two errors. Sixteen runs was more than enough for Flyers starting pitcher Hide Oshima, who pitched five innings, giving up six hits and two runs. The Flyers added a few more runs in the fifth inning when Daniel Eichenberger, for his 3 hit of the game, added a 3 run home run to right field. Hitting standouts for the game were Daniel Eichenberger who was 3-5 with 5 RBI and a HR, Reto Siegel who was 3-5 with a double and Chris Blackbee who was 3-5 with a double. Final score was 21-2 in favor of the Flyers.
