RIMINI turned a 1-4 deficit around and defeated NETTUNO thanks to two runs in the seventh by a score of 6-4 on Saturday afternoon in the Italian Baseball League. Mario Chiarini pushed the winning run over the plate with a RBI triple. He later also reached home on a RBI single by Eddie Rios. Rios and Lorenzo Avagnina had tied the contest in the fifth with RBI singles. DANESI led since a four-run rally in the third, where Juan Camilo and Dewis Navarro plated runs with singles and Giuseppe Mazzanti smacked a ball over the left field wall for a two-run homerun. Starters Chris Di Roma (RIM) and Yoel Hernandez (NET) allowed four runs each in five innings of rocky work. Buddy Bengel picked up the win, Carlos Pezzullo took the loss.

Sandy Patrone allowed just five hits and a walk in seven scoreless innings to lead TELEMARKET to a 3-0 shutout in the night cap of the doubleheader. Mario Chiarini (2) and Danny Gonzalez provided the run support with RBI doubles in the fourth and fifth. Carlos Richetti got hit with the loss after six innings, six hits, three runs (1 ER) and two walks.

Jake Blalock went four-for-five with a RBI to lead REGGIO EMILIA to a 4-2 win over GODO on Saturday afternoon. Taber Lee scored twice. DE ANGELIS tried to come back in the ninth, but their rally was stopped right in time. Gregory Palanzo earned the win by allowing just four hits and four walks in 7 1/3 innings. Brandon Camardese conceded one run on seven hits in four innings for the loss.

REGGIO EMILIA used a six-run first and a four-run fourth to crush GODO 10-5 on Saturday evening. Taber Lee and Mattia Reginato combined for five hits, two homeruns, four runs scored and seven RBI. Pete Farina collected four hits, two runs and a RBI. Daniele Malengo had four hits and three runs in four at bats for GODO. Daustin Nelson gave up four runs (3 ER) on 13 hits and a walk in seven innings for the win. Daniele Del Bianco didn’t register one out in the first, when he was replaced after five hits, six runs (5 ER) and a walk.

PARMA scored six runs between the second and fourth frame on their way to beat GROSSETO 8-3 in part one of their doubleheader on Saturday. Davide Dallospedale went three-for-four with three runs scored and two RBI against his former team. Laidel Chapelli drove in three. Marco Grifantini pitched six scoreless innings, allowing just four hits to pick up the win. Chris Cooper suffered the loss, allowing eight runs (5 ER) on eight hits and three bb in five-plus innings.

CARIPARMA scored seven runs in the fifth of a 14-1 beatdown of MONTEPASCHI on Saturday evening. Jhonny Carvajal led the offense with two homeruns and seven RBI. His grand slam in the seventh ended the game due to ten-run rule. Leonardo Zileri scored three times. Roberto Corradini pitched six solid innings for an easy win. Junior Oberto was responsible for seven runs (6 ER) on ten hits and two bb in 4 1/3 innings.

A RBI bunt single by pinch hitter Giovanni Pantaleoni in the bottom of the tenth helped BOLOGNA to defeat SAN MARINO 11-10 in walk off style. Juan Carlos Infante had forced extra innings with a RBI single in the ninth. Juan Angrisano, who drove in six overall, highlighted a six-run rally by FORTITUDO in the fourth. David Sheldon homered for the reigning champion. Dean Rovinelli went two-for-three with five RBI. Carlos Duran collected four hits. Starters Fabio Betto (BOL) and Luca Martignoni (SMA) allowed eight runs each in 4 2/3, respective 3 2/3 innings. Fabio Milano received the win, Mauro Schiavoni the loss.
