Juan Figueroa and James Vermilyea combined to throw a three-hitter to lead GROSSETO to a 3-0 shutout over GODO. Figueroa started and allowed just three hits in seven innings, striking out five. Vermilyea replaced him for the last two frames and retired all six batters he faced. A RBI double by Jairo Ramos and a RBI groundout by Gabriele Ermini put MONTEPASCHI up 2-0 in the opening period. Two innings later they added third run on a RBI fielder’s choice by Ermini. Emmanuel Ulloa took the loss after surrendering six hits, three runs and five bb in six innings.

SAN MARINO used eight runs in the seventh to crush Italian Baseball League leader RIMINI 14-1 and to take a 2-0 lead in the series. Ulrich Snijders went three-for-five with four RBI. Ardley Jansen scored three times. Dean Rovinelli collected three RBI. Ivanon Coffie provided the lone run for TELEMARKET with a solo shot in the sixth. Tiago Da Silva struck out ten in seven solid innings for the win. He gave up just one run on six hits. Chris Di Roma was charged with seven hits, six runs and the loss.

Manny Alexander and Juan Camilo homered for NETTUNO, as the European Champions Cup winner beat PARMA 7-1. Both combined with Giuseppe Mazzanti for six RBI. Final Four MVP Jeff Farnsworth allowed just one run on eight hits and a walk in six innings. He struck out seven. Ricardo Palma conceded seven hits, five runs and three bb in five innings to take the loss.

FORTITUDO also won game two against REGGIO EMILIA this week. The offense blew a close game open in the fifth, when they put five runs on the board for a 6-0 lead. They added four more runs afterwards en route to a 10-2. PALFINGER avoided the shutout by scoring twice in the ninth. Richard Austin hit his second homerun of the year and drove in three. Juan Pablo Angrisano went two-for-two with two walks and three runs scored. Yulman Ribeiro allowed just two hits in six scoreless innings for the win. Gregory Palanzo took the loss after five innings, eight hits, six runs (2 ER) and three bb.
