Eskilstuna Hammers – Karlskoga Bats 0-18 (7), 4-13
The Karlskoga Bats concluded the first phase of the regular season with a pair of lopsided wins against the Eskilstuna Hammers. In game one Jason Enewold (W 4-1) and Henrik Johansson combined to throw seven scoreless no-hit, no-walk innings in a seven-inning 18-0 shutout. Enewold struck out ten in six frames. Petter Lundberg and Bryce Enewold combined to score seven of the 18 runs. In the second part of the twin bill six runs in the fifth put the Bats on their way to a 13-4 win. Petter Lundberg and Elias Soelveling combined for six RBI. Kent Karlsson (W 2-0) allowed four hits, two runs (1 ER) and a walk in six innings.
Gefle – Stockholm 12-14, 4-12
Stockholm solidified first place in the standings with a pair of wins in Gefle. In game one the reigning champion scored ten runs in the top of the second, but nearly blew the commanding lead, as Gefle scored ten runs in the last three frames, losing 12-14 in the end. Oscar Carlstedt homered for Stockholm, while Damon Lessler drove in three. Tomas Jansson, Mikael Bostroem, Tomas Andersson and Kristoffer Sjoeberg (4 RBI) hit homeruns for Gefle.
In the second game Stockholm again had a fast start, putting eight runs on the board in the first two frames en route to a 12-4 win. Bjoern Johannessen went 3-for-5 with three RBI. Damon Lessler and Magnus Pilegård, who also went deep, combined for six runs. Dane Youtz homered for Gefle. Oscar Carlstedt (W 1-0) issued six hits, three runs (2 ER) and four bb in five innings.
Leksand Lumberjacks – Sundbyberg Heat 0-11 (7), 2-5
Sundbyberg Heat celebrated two wins over the Leksand Lumberjacks on Sunday. In an 11-0 game-one they scored four runs in the first two innings before blowing things wide open with seven runs in the fifth. Shawn Vance went 3-for-5 with six RBI. Nick Soubiea (W 5-1) gave up only three hits and two walks in seven scoreless inning s for the win. Per Sjoers (L 0-2) was charged with the loss after conceding nine hits, eleven runs (5 ER) and six bb in 4 2/3 innings.
In the second game Sundbyberg needed to score four runs in the top of the eighth to overcome a 1-2 deficit, winning 5-2. Rob Lennard began on the mound for the Heat, issuing no hits, no walks in five scoreless innings, striking out seven. Johan Tinsell (W 2-1) replaced him in the sixth and blew a 1-0 lead, but contributed to the game-winning rally with a two-run single.
Goteborg – Tranås 6-4, 4-11
Goteborg and Tranås settled for the lone split of the game day. Curtis Dionne (W 4-3) pitched eight solid innings to lead Goteborg to a 6-4 in game one. They scored all six runs in the bottom of the second. Dionne and Ryan Brown combined for four RBI. Kyle West (L 2-1) went 4-for-4 for Tranås, but also gave up four hits, six runs and four bb in 1 1/3 innings to take the loss.
Tranås scored in each frame between the fourth and eighth to erase an early 0-3 deficit in an 11-4 game-two victory. Kyle West crossed the plate three times. David Wennerlund went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Curtis Dionne collected three hits, two runs and a RBI for Goteborg. Matt Merrifield (W 2-0) struck out seven batters in a complete game win. He issued eight hits, four runs and two bb. Bryan Lee dominated early on for Goteborg, striking out ten in 3 2/3 innings. But reliever Kerry Fitzgerald (L 1-2) couldn’t hold on to the lead and took the loss.
