PARMA scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth to defeat RIMINI 5-4 on Thursday evening in the opener of week two in the Italian Baseball League. Johnny Carvajal, Davide Dallospedale and Leonardo Zileri all scored, when PIRATES’ center fielder Filippo Crociati made a throwing error after a single by Johnny Balentina. Balentina, who had advanced to third on the play, scored moments later on a passed ball. In the ninth, TELEMARKET cut the deficit to a run on a three-run shot by Ivanon Coffie, but it was not enough to come back. Rafael Garcia (RIM) struck out twelve in seven innings, allowing three hits, a run and a walk. Ricky Palma (PAR) conceded eight hits, one run and three bb in 5 1/3 innings. He punched out seven. Oscar Lira picked up the win in relief, Gustavo Martinez took the loss.

SAN MARINO also won its fourth game of the season, beating GODO 7-2 on Thursday evening. The reigning Italian champion took the lead through four runs in the third and sealed the victory with two runs in the eighth. Seth La Fera reached base three times, hit a solo homerun, scored twice and drove in two. Simone Albanese also crossed the plate twice. Felix Escalona had four hits for DE ANGELIS. Horacio Estrada picked up the win, giving up two unearned runs on six hits and a walk in six innings. Luis Ramirez struck out six in three one-hit innings of relief for the save. Daniele Del Bianco took the loss, being charged with nine hits, five runs and four bb in seven innings.
