Recaps: Rouen Huskies stay at the top after Sweep in Montigny



Cougars de Montigny – Rouen Huskies 2-15 (8), 2-8

ROUEN defended first place in the French Elite League standings with two wins in MONTIGNY. In game one they only needed to score in two innings to pound the COUGARS 15-2. They took the lead through ten runs in the third and finished the job off with another five-run rally in the eighth. Nicolas Dubaut went two-for-five with four RBI. Boris Marche had three hits and three RBI on his belt. Each of their players in the starting lineup scored, six of them crossed the plate twice. Robin Roy (W 1-1) struck out nine in eight innings for the win. He allowed two runs on eight hits and a walk. Sebastien Duchossoy (L 2-2) threw just 40 of his 81 pitches for strikes and was charged with ten runs on ten hits and four bb in three innings.

In the second match ROUEN opened the scoring in the first, putting four runs on the board en route to an 8-2 win. Boris Marche added to two RBI to his day total of five. Luc Piquet and Dany Scalabrini each scored twice. Alexandre Sochon (W 3-0) gave up two hits, two runs and three walks in six innings. Chris Patterson (L 0-3) surrendered eleven hits, eight runs (4 ER) and four bb in nine innings.

Arvernes de Clermont-Ferrand – La Guerche Hawks 3-13 (7), 3-9

CLERMONT-FERRAND even lost before the start of their doubleheader against the HAWKS. Their number one starter Ben Pfinsgraff left the team after one month French Elite League to join the independent Winnipeg Goldeyes. LA GUERCHE won both ends of the twin bill thanks to a strong performance by their offense. In game one they scored four runs in the first two frames and led 10-1 through five en route to a 13-3 victory in seven innings. Anthony Piquet received the win. Olivier Charlionnet took the loss. In the second match the HAWKS had Kyle Gruver on the mound, who struck out ten batters to lead his team to a 9-3 win. Aurelien Dalibard was on the losing side.

Templiers Senart – Savigny Lions 3-4, 5-10

SAVIGNY stays right behind ROUEN in the Elite League standings, winning twice against SENART. Tim Stewart struck out eleven in seven innings to lead the LIONS to a 4-3 win in game one. They scored the game-winning runs in the top of the eighth on a pinch hit two-run double by Florian Peyrichou. Sebastien Boyer crossed the plate twice. Andrew Smith scored twice for the TEMPLIERS. Samuel Meurant took the loss after allowing four hits, four runs (3 ER) and four bb in 7 2/3 innings. In the second game SAVIGNY didn’t need a late rally, as they won easily by a score of 10-5.

Montpellier Barracudas – Stade Toulousain 7-1, 4-7

MONTPELLIER and TOULOUSAIN settled for the lone split this weekend in France. Edouard Massé and Laurent Andrades led the BARRACUDAS to a 7-1 win in game one. STADE scored six runs in the second frame of the second match en route to a 7-4 victory.
