Roeland Henrique Jr. lifted L&D Amsterdam to a 3-2 win on Saturday over DOOR Neptunus. His walk off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth broke a 2-2 tie and delivered the Pirates their first victory of the new season in the Dutch Hoofdklasse. Neptunus’ new Aussie hurler Craig Anderson (L 0-1) had loaded the bases with a single and a pair of walks. Arshwin Asjes replaced him and immediately gave up the decisive hit.
Earlier in the contest the squad from Rotterdam had erased a 0-2 deficit thanks to runs by Shaldimar Daantji and Rien Vernooij. Amsterdam had scored twice in the fourth. Jos de Jong (AMS) issued seven hits, a run and a walk in six solid innings. Jurrian Koks (W 1-0) picked up the win in relief. Kevin Heijstek (NEP) surrendered six hits, two runs and a bb in six innings.
