A RBI double by Paolo Tanesini in the seventh and a solo shot by Lino Connell in the eighth was all GODO needed to defeat GROSSETO 3-1 on Saturday afternoon. Raul Marval accounted for the lone ORIOLES run with a solo homerun in the fourth. Brandon Camardese struck out eight in seven solid innings for the win. He allowed just one run on five hits and a walk. Chris Cooper took the loss, despite a quality start of 6 1/3 innings, conceding two hits, two runs (1 ER) and three bb.

In the night cap of the doubleheader GROSSETO celebrated a 9-7 victory after slugfest. Jairo Ramos led their offense with three RBI. Gabriele Ermini and Riccucci each scored twice. Lino Connell hit another homerun for DE ANGELIS. He and Daniele Malengo drove in a combined four runs. Junior Oberto had seven punch-outs in five innings, allowing five hits, three runs and two walks for the win. Matteo Galeotti started for GODO, but only lasted 1 2/3 innings, giving up three hits, two runs (1 ER) and two bb. Reliever Daniele Del Bianco took the loss.
Telemarket Rimini – T&A San Marino 3-0

Sandy Patrone and Michele Quattrini combined to throw a three-hit shutout, leading RIMINI to a 3-0 win over reigning Italian Baseball League champion SAN MARINO. Patrone started and allowed just three hits and a walk, while striking out eight in six innings. Quattrini faced the minimum in the last three frames to close it out. A throwing error in the first put the PIRATES up in front. They added insurance runs on RBI singles by Danny Gonzalez and Lorenzo Avagnina later on. Luca Martignoni gave up seven hits, two runs (1 ER) and four bb in seven innings for the loss.
Cariparma – Danesi Nettuno 4-1

CARIPARMA used a four-run fifth to beat NETTUNO 4-1 on Saturday afternoon in the IBL. Michele Gerali tied the game with a RBI double. Stefano De Simoni put them in front with a RBI single, while Orlando Munoz and Jhonny Carvajal followed with a RBI double and a sac fly. DANESI led 1-0 since Giuseppe Mazzanti had scored on a wild pitch in the second. Marco Grifantini picked up the win after six-plus no-hit innings. He gave up one run and four bb, striking out two, before being replaced after walking the leadoff man in the seventh. Giovanni Carrara took the loss, allowing six hits, four runs and three walks in five innings.
Cariparma – Danesi Nettuno 3-7

NETTUNO came out firing in the third match of the season, taking a 5-3 lead after three innings en route to a 7-3 win over CARIPARMA. Abraham had two-run single and a solo homerun for DANESI. Manny Alexander and Juan Camilo, which bat first and second in the order reached seven times and scored three runs total. Jhonny Carvajal tripled and drove in two for PARMA. Carlos Richetti picked up the win with five innings, allowing five hits, three runs and three bb. Roberto Corradini took the loss, surrendering eight hits, six runs (3 ER) and three walks in 3 1/3 innings.
Fortitudo Bologna – Palfinger Reggio Emilia 8-0

Fabio Betto allowed just five hits and two walks in six scoreless innings to lead BOLOGNA to an 8-0 shutout against REGGIO EMILIA. The offense put FORTITUDO in front in the fifth, when Joseph Mazzuca scored on an error. Two frames later Luca Breveglieri (3-4, 3 RBI) homered to extend the lead to three runs, before they finally blew the game wide open with a five-run rally in the eighth. Daustin Nielsen was charged with three unearned runs on six hits and two walks in seven innings to take the loss.
