DOOR Neptunus completed the three-game sweep over the Almere Magpies in the Dutch Hoofdklasse with a 6-1 victory on Sunday afternoon. Kevin Heijstek (W) issued just one run on two hits and two walks in eight strong innings. The club from Rotterdam already had provided him with a 5-1 lead after three innings. Raily Legito, Danny Rombley and Martijn Meeuwis drove in runs. Sten van den Bedem (L) surrendered nine hits, six runs (3 ER) and three bb in six innings.

L&D Amsterdam also won the third game of the series against Mr. Cocker HCAW, but this time it wasn’t a nail biter as on Thursday or Friday. The Pirates scored seven runs in the first three frames on their way to an easy 13-1 win. Michael Kramer tripled and drove in four. Koen Nooij scored three times. Ben Grover (W) allowed four hits, a run and two walks in seven innings. Kyle Ward (L) issued five hits, five runs (2 ER) and a bb in 1 2/3 innings.

Corendon Kinheim – Konica Minolta Pioniers 6-5

After blowing an early 5-0 lead Corendon Kinheim won the rubber match of its series against the Konica Minolta Pioniers 6-5 thanks to a walk-off RBI single by Niels van Weert in the bottom of the ninth. The Pioniers had tied the game in the top of the frame, when Dè Flanegin hit a pitch of closer Michiel van Kampen (W, BS) over the fence in right center field for a two-run homerun. A three-run double by Lennart Koster in the sixth and cut the deficit to two runs. Duko Jansen (KIN) gave up three hits, three runs and two walks in 5 1/3 innings. Ramon Romeijn (PIO) conceded one hit, four runs and four bb in 2 1/3 innings. Jean-Paul Gulinck (L) was charged with the loss.

ADO – Sparta/Feyenoord Rotterdam 5-4

ADO came back on Sunday from a 0-4 deficit to beat Sparta/Feyenoord 5-4, picking up the second victory of the series and moving into sixth place in the Hoofdklasse standings. Anthony Vrolijk scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth on a wild pitch. Two frames earlier his RBI single had capped a four-run rally to tie the contest. Rotterdam had scored two runs in the fifth and sixth each to take the lead. Martijn Riphagen (ADO) allowed six hits, three runs and a walk in five-plus innings. Quinn Tramm (SPA) issued five hits, four runs and six bb in 5 2/3 innings. Jurrian Koks (W) received the win, Jose Ventura (L) the loss.
