Jesus Matos (W 5-1) and Victor Moreno combined to allow just three hits and three walks to lead UGF Bologna to a 6-0 shutout over Cariparma. Matos struck out five in seven scoreless innings, while allowing only a pair of singles and two walks. Moreno closed it out with four Ks in the last two frames.
Stefano Landuzzi and Juan Angrisano put Fortitudo up in front in the third with a RBI double and a RBI single. Both players again struck in the fifth, when a single by Landuzzi and a sac fly by Angrisano led to two more runs. Francesco Alaimo and Daniele Malengo added RBI doubles in the sixth and ninth to seal the victory.
Mihai Burlea got the surprise starting nod over Gustavo Martinez, who was not available. But the Romanian hurler allowed six hits, five runs and seven bb in five-plus innings to take the loss. Just 64 of his 119 pitches were strikes.
