Pulheim Gophers – Bonn Capitals 7-11, 9-19
In the lone matchup in the northern division of the German Baseball-Bundesliga this week the Bonn Capitals won both games against the Pulheim Gophers, moving into third place in the standings. In game one Bonn scored in each of the last five frames en route to an 11-7 victory. In the second match the Capitals out-slugged the Gophers for a 19-9 win. Bradley Roper-Hubbert and Christian Nsien hit homeruns for Bonn. Max Schmitz and Bryce Schoening got the wins. Tim Henkenjohann pitched in relief in game one. Tim Karkatselos and Ronny Glunt were charged with the win.
Southern Division
Heidenheim Heidekoepfe – Mainz Athletics 0-1, 0-1
The Mainz Athletics celebrated a pair of rare 1-0 shutouts over the Heidenheim Heidekoepfe this weekend. In game one leadoff hitter Tony Baker scored the lone run in the opening inning on a RBI groundout by Mike Larson. Jan-Niclas Stoecklin (W) allowed just four hits and four walks in six scoreless innings for the win. He struck out six. Christian Decher closed it out. Aljosha Schattmann (L) took the loss after three-plus innings. In the second game Kevin Kotowski scored the decisive run in the third frame on a RBI single by Larson (3-4). Pat Haugen (W) out-dueled Dusty Bergman (L). The A’s ace issued just three hits and two bb in a complete game. Bergman was responsible for five hits, a run and four walks also in nine innings. Both struck out eleven.
Bad Homburg Hornets – Gauting Indians 6-5, 2-6
The Bad Homburg Hornets and the Gauting Indians settled for the lone split in German Baseball this weekend. In game one the Hornets blew a 4-0 lead, trailed by a run going into the bottom of the ninth, but still prevailed 6-5 thanks to a RBI single by Daniel Czekalla and a sac fly by Tobias Netz. Mike Otto got the win, John Dobkowski the loss. In the second game Gauting couldn’t hold on to a 2-0 lead, but won the game 6-2 after a four-run rally in the ninth. Alex Howard got the win in relief of a strong Benji Waite. John Dobkowski got the final out with men on first and second for the save. Darryl Cormier was charged with the loss.
