Goteborg – Stockholm 0-10 (7), 4-5
After a split on opening weekend, defending champion Stockholm used two wins in Goteborg to improve to 3-1 in the Swedish Elitserien. In game one Oscar Carlstedt and Alberto Gonzalez combined for five RBI in a 10-0 win. Liam Hopkins scored three times. Jakob Claesson pitched six scoreless innings for the win. In the second game two players, which had stints in the German Baseball-Bundesliga secured a 5-4 victory. Joakim Claesson went the distance on the mound, allowing four unearned runs on ten hits and five walks. Damon Lessler drove in two. Joey Schwartz picked up three stolen bases and two RBI for Goteborg.
Sundbyberg Heat – Eskilstuna 14-0 (7), 10-3
Sundbyberg got two easy wins over the promoted Eskilstuna. In game one the Heat scored eight fast runs in the opening period en route to a 14-0 victory. Will Rickard went 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Eric Mercado drove in three. Nick Soubiea (W 1-0) wouldn’t have needed that much run support, as he gave up just five hits in seven scoreless innings. In the second match Sundbyberg erased a 1-3 deficit by scoring four runs in the fifth. They added five more runs later on and won by a score of 10-3. Rickard scored three times and was one of three players to drive in two.
Karlskoga Bats – Leksand Lumberjacks 14-1 (7), 8-7
The Karlskoga Bats are the only team in the Swedish Elitserien, which overcame the first two weeks of the season without a loss. In game one against Leksand, they took a fast 11-0 lead after three innings on their way to a 14-1 rout in seven. Henrik Johansson scored four times, while Christoffer Johansson went 4-for-5 with four RBI. Mats Jones picked up three hits for the Lumberjacks. The outcome in the second part of the doubleheader was much closer. Karlskoga needed a run in the bottom of the seventh to prevail 8-7. Petter Lundberg and Eimantes Zickus combined for four RBI. Jason Enewold crossed the plate three times. Daniel Farth and Jones scored two runs each for Leksand.
