UGF Bologna avoided a sweep against San Marino thanks to Fabio Betto’s (W 2-0) 100th career win in the Italian Baseball League. He struck out seven batters in seven innings, allowing six hits, two runs and two walks. T&A took a 2-0 lead through five innings after a RBI single by Giovanni Pantaleoni and a solo homerun by Carlos Duran. Fortitudo came back in the seventh to tie the game on a RBI single by Juan Carlos Infante in combination with an error by right fielder Ardley Jansen.

In the eighth Daniele Malengo reached base when he was hit by a pitch, advanced to third on a sac bunt and scored the winning run through a squeeze play by Francesco Alaimo. Gregory Palanzo (SMA) started for the Titans, giving up six hits, a run and two bb in 6 1/3 innings. Ilo Bartolucci (L 0-1) took the loss.

Grosseto won the series against Nettuno with a 4-1 victory in the rubber match on Saturday evening. Leadoff hitter Anthony Coromato led the way with two runs and a RBI. Riccardo de Santis (W 1-0) struck out eight in seven innings, conceding just three hits, a run and two bb. Carlos Richetti (L 1-1) issued eight hits, four runs (3 ER) and four walks in 5 2/3 innings.

Rimini blew an early 3-0 lead, but still managed to win 6-4 against the Godo Knights, taking over first place in the Italian Baseball League standings. After De Angelis got in front with four runs in the fourth, Telemarket tied the game in the fifth on a sac fly by Claudio Signori. RBI singles by Jhonny Carvajal (4-5, 3 runs) and Jack Santora (3-5) in the sixth and the seventh plated the decisive go-ahead runs. Sandy Patrone (RIM) surrendered five hits, four runs (3 ER) and three bb in 3 1/3 innings. Michele Quattrini (W 1-0) picked up the win with 3 2/3 dominant innings of no-hit, no-walk relief, striking out seven. Matteo Galeotti (GOD) allowed seven hits, three runs (2 ER) and three walks in 2 1/3 innings. Francesco Grigoletto (L 0-1) took the loss.

Cariparma completed its sweep in Palermo with a pair of lopsided victories. In game two of the series on Saturday afternoon they defeated the Warriors 14-4 in seven innings. Juan Camilo homered and drove in three, while Davide Dallospedale collected four RBI. Marco Yepez scored four times after going 3-for-3 with two walks. Rolexis Molina brought two runs over the plate for Catania. Mihai Burlea (W 1-0) gave up four hits, four runs and four bb in five innings. Leonardo D’Amico (L 0-2) was charged with five hits, seven runs and five walks in just 1 2/3 innings.

In game three in the evening, Parma erased a 2-5 deficit after the second to win 15-5 in eight innings. They put eight runs on the board in the last two frames to blow things wide open. Juan Camilo had another big game, as he went 3-for-5 with a homerun and six RBI. Davide Dallospedale had a two-run triple. Marco Yepez, Leonardo Zileri and Luca Scalera scored three runs each. Perez Rosario and Mario Pesce had two RBI apiece for Catania. Roberto Corradini (W 2-0) had seven Ks in seven innings, while allowing two hits, five runs (2 ER) and five bb. Orlando Yntema (L 1-1) surrendered six hits, six runs (4 ER) and six walks in five innings.
