As a fan this is exactly what you expect from a Major League veteran coming to Europe. Jim Brower (W 1-0) didn’t waste any time to get comfortable, leading Rimini to a 5-0 shutout in Grosseto. Having appeared in a total of 354 big league games he debuted in the Italian Baseball League on Friday with a complete game no-hitter. He allowed just two Montepaschi batters to reach on a pair of walks and faced just one over the minimum. He struck out ten. A leadoff walk by Leonardo Mazzanti in the sixth ended his bid for a perfect game.
The Telemarket offense had provided him with an early 4-0 lead after three innings. A RBI single by Jhonny Carvajal in combination with an error plated two runs in the first. RBI doubles by Laidel Chapelli and Lorenzo Avagnina extended the lead in the third. Mario Chiarini’s solo homerun in the seventh finalized the score. Juan Figueroa (L 0-1) took the loss, surrendering seven hits, four runs and four bb in six innings. He picked up seven Ks.

The player’s name of San Marino is not Kenley, but Ardley Jansen.
