Jesus Matos struck out 15 batters in seven innings. But it was not enough for FORTITUDO BOLOGNA and they lost 2-6 against T&A SAN MARINO. Back to back homeruns by Martin Vazquez and Max De Biase put the Italian Baseball League champion up 3-2 in the third. Both also had RBI singles to combine for four RBI. Seth La Fera scored twice. BOLOGNA’s Eddy Garabito drove in two with a single in the first, but they couldn’t score afterwards.
Matos took the loss, allowing six hits, four runs and two walks. He threw 99 pitches, 73 of them were strikes. Horacio Estrada picked up the win with nine K’s in seven solid innings. He gave up four hits, two runs and a bb. Luis Ramirez relieved him for the last two frames and again dominated with four K’s in two no-hit innings. He now has pitched in three games, conceding just one hit and a hit batter in eight innings, while striking out 17.
