Juan Figueroa (W) and James Vermilyea combined to throw a four-hit shutout, leading GROSSETO to a 1-0 victory over REGGIO EMILIA. It was the first win for the ORIOLES this year. Figueroa started and allowed just four hits and four walks in seven innings, striking out eight. Vermilyea gave up two more walks in two scoreless frames to close it out for the save. MONTEPASCHI scored the lone run of the game, when Jorge Nunez doubled leading off the third, moved to third on a pop up bunt to first and scored through a single by Gabriele Ermini. Abe Alvarez (L) conceded one run on four hits and three walks in six innings to take the loss.
Fortitudo Bologna – Danesi Nettuno 3-6

NETTUNO stayed undefeated in the Italian Baseball League with a 6-3 win in BOLOGNA. They overcame a deficit twice in the game and decided the outcome thanks to three runs in the last two frames. Juan Camilo led the offense going three-for-four with a solo homerun, a walk three runs scored and two RBI. Giuseppe Mazzanti, Dewis Navarro and Manuel Gasparri also drove in runs. Juan Carlos Infante scored twice for FORTITUDO. Jeff Farnsworth (W) struck out eight in seven solid innings, surrendering eight hits, three runs and a walk. Remigio Leal sealed the deal by striking out five of the last six batters. Jesus Matos (BOL) struck out twelve in seven innings, giving up three runs (2 ER) on five hits. Eddy Rodriguez walked three (2 IBB) to take the loss.

GODO overcame a brilliant effort by SAN MARINO’s starter Tiago Da Silva (7 IP, 4 H, BB, 10 SO) to score six runs in the eighth en route to a 7-0 victory, their first this season, against the reigning IBL champion. They loaded the bases with one out in the decisive frame and former big leaguer Felix Escalona came through with a RBI single to put DE ANGELIS up in front. Danilo Sanchez followed with a two-run single and three more scored in the frame on bases-loaded walks. In the ninth Federico Rubboli finalized the score with a RBI single. Brandon Camardese (W) had matched Da Silva over seven innings, allowing just four hits and three walks, striking out four. Danny Forte came in and closed it out with two K’s in two perfect innings to secure the win.
Telemarket Rimini – Cariparma 5-4

After PARMA won 5-4 at home on Thursday evening, RIMINI prevailed with the same result in their ballpark on Friday. With CARIPARMA leading 3-2 going into the fifth, the PIRATES loaded the bases in the bottom of the frame on a walk, an error and a hit by pitch. Eddie Rios stepped to the plate and doubled to left field, bringing home two runners and to put TELEMARKET up in front. Lorenzo Avagnina capped the three-run rally with a RBI single to make it 5-3. This run was the game-winner, as PARMA’s Leonardo Zileri scored on a Johnny Carvajal groundout in the ninth to cut the deficit to a run. Alex Sambucci (PAR) hit a solo homerun in the second. Buddy Bengel (RIM) allowed five hits, three runs (2 ER) and a walk in four innings. Chris Di Roma picked up the win in relief. Marco Grifantini (L) was charged with three hits, five runs (4 ER) and three bb in 4 1/3 innings.
