NETTUNO scored three runs in the eighth to defeat RIMINI 7-4 on Saturday afternoon. Giuseppe Mazzanti scored the game winning run on a wild pitch. Renato Imperiali followed with a two-run single to seal the deal. Mazzanti and Juan Camilo homered earlier in the game. Eddie Rios hit the ball over the fence for the PIRATES. Giovanni Carrara (NET) lasted six innings on the mound, giving up six hits, four runs (3 ER) and two bb. Buddy Bengel (RIM) conceded four runs on five hits in 4 2/3 innings. Carlos Pezzullo earned the win, Fernando Gutierrez took the loss.

RIMINI won the series in the evening game thanks to an eighth-inning run by Daniel Gonzalez on a double by Ivanon Coffie, winning with a score of 4-3. Both teams had scored three times in the first four frames. Jack Santora and Gonzalez each scored twice. Coffie drove in two. Manny Alexander, Giuseppe Mazzanti and Manuel Gasparri had the RBIs for NETTUNO. Michele Quattrini picked up the win after four innings of no-hit relief. Carlos Richetti was responsible for five hits, four runs (3 ER) and three walks, taking the loss despite eight strikeouts.

REGGIO EMILIA celebrated another shutout against GODO on Saturday afternoon. Conrad Orman allowed just four hits and two walks in eight innings to lead them to a 3-0 victory. He struck out four, throwing 62 of his 109 pitches for strikes. Paul Macaluso scored two of the three runs, Jake Blalock the third. Brandon Camardese took the loss after seven innings, eight hits, one run and two walks.
Palfinger Reggio Emilia – De Angelis Godo 7-8

DE ANGELIS scored seven runs in the last two frames, overcoming a 1-7-deficit to win 8-7 against REGGIO in the night cap of the doubleheader. They also avoided the sweep with the victory. Danilo Sanchez was main catalyst for the rally. After GODO loaded the bases in the eighth, cleared them with a double and later scored on a fielder’s choice to make it 5-7. In the ninth Sanchez again stepped to the plate with runners on base, but this time he hit the ball over the fence in left field to complete the comeback with a three-run homerun. Mattia Reginato drove in two for PALFINGER. Daustin Nielson (EMI) pitched seven solid innings, allowing just one run on four hits and two walks. Matteo Galeotti (GOD) gave up six hits, six runs (5 ER) and three bb in 4 2/3 innings. Roberto Cabalisti picked up the win, Filippo Bertolini the loss.
Montepaschi Grosseto – Cariparma 4-3

GROSSETO scored four runs in the seventh to turn a three-run gap into a 4-3 win over PARMA on Saturday afternoon. CARIPARMA led 3-0 after two frames, thanks to a RBI single by Johnny Carvajal, a RBI double by Leonardo Zileri and a sac fly by David Dallospedale. But it was not enough. MONTEPASCHI loaded the bases with three straight singles at the beginning of the seventh. Francesco Casolari then was hit by a pitch to force in the first run. Giacomo Falciani followed with a two-run single. Jairo Ramos capped the rally with a RBI single for the victory. Chris Cooper (GRO) pitched six innings, allowing ten hits, three runs and two walks. Marco Grifantini (PAR) gave up four this, two runs and two bb in six-plus innings. Yovany D’Amico picked up the win, Brian Scarcella the loss.
Montepaschi Grosseto – Cariparma 2-1

GROSSETO also won the evening part of the twin bill, thanks to a nice performance by the pitching staff and an eighth-inning homerun. PARMA had taken the lead in the fourth on a sac fly by Johnny Balentina. The ORIOLES fought back in the sixth, tying the contest on a RBI single by Jairo Ramos. Two innings later Raul Marval connected on a 2-2 pitch by Danny Newman and drove the ball over the fence in left field for the game winner. Starters Roberto Corradini (PAR) and Junior Oberto (GRO) allowed just one run each in six, respective 6 1/3 innings. Emiliano Ginanneschi picked up the win.
