Cologne Cardinals – Dortmund Wanderers 9-11, 4-0
The CARDINALS and the WANDERERS settled for a split in their doubleheader on Saturday. In game one, DORTMUND scored six runs between the sixth and eighth and won 11-9. Trevor Howell got four hits and four RBI to lead the offense. Aljosha Heller scored three times. Sascha Steffens went three-for-four with three RBI for COLOGNE. In the second match Kalev Betancourt dominated once again. He gave up just a seventh-inning single to Daniel Groer plus two more base runners on a walk and a hit batter. The CARDS won by a score of 4-0 with Anderson Alvarez accounting for three of the four runs.
Pulheim Gophers – Solingen Alligators 8-18 (7), 3-12
The ALLIGATORS demonstrated their offensive abilities in PULHEIM putting 30 runs on the board in their twin bill against the GOPHERS. In game one Dominik Wulf homered twice to lead SOLINGEN to a 18-8 win in seven innings, after PULHEIM had built up a fast 5-1 lead in the beginning. In the second match the northern division leader completed the sweep with a 12-3 blowout. Robin Drache had the most successful day at the plate with five hits, five runs and a homerun overall.
Paderborn Untouchables – HSV Stealers 17-3 (7), 2-0
Two different games saw the people in attendance at the Ahorn ballpark in Paderborn. In the first match the U’s blow the game wide open with a eight-run sixth to win 17-3 against the HSV. Octavio Medina, Mitch Franke and Dominik Buder combined for nine RBI. Gavin Ng scored three times and drove in two. In the second part of the doubleheader starter Chris Balatico (6 IP, 2 BB, 6 SO), game one starter Eugen Heilmann (2 IP, 2 SO) and closer Daniel Rahn (1 IP, H) combined to allow just one hit in the ninth in a 2-0 shutout. STEALERS’ starter Kody Hightower did the best he could, but had to settle for the tough loss, after eight innings, six hits, two runs and one walk.
Dortmund Wanderers – Paderborn Untouchables 6-5, 3-1
On Monday the WANDERERS practically secure itself a spot in the playoffs, by stunning the UNTOUCHABLES with a sweep. In game one, they scored four runs in the last two innings en route to a 6-5 win. Kyle Cherney kicked off the rally in the eighth with a solo homerun. Andreas Becker tied the contest with a two-run single. In the ninth it was the turn for Daniel Groer, who hit the ball over the fence in center field for a walk off homerun. In the second match Matt Kemp led DORTMUND to a 3-1 victory, the twelfth of the season.

Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg – Heidenheim Heidekoepfe 8-13, 1-0 (10)
The HEIDEKOEPFE ended the winning streak of the BUCHBINDER LEGIONAERE last Friday in the night game of the two-game series thanks to a 13-8 victory. They used a six-run sixth to build up a 13-2 lead midway through the ninth. REGENSBURG tried to rally in the bottom of the last frame. But it was too little too late. Ray Stokes and Ryan Lilly had two-run triples for HEIDENHEIM. Matt Vance and Klaus Hopfensperger hit homeruns for the LEGIONAERE. In the second match on Saturday afternoon, Eddie Aucoin and Dusty Bergman exchanged zeros during regulation, so a tenth-inning walk off RBI single by Vance had to secure the 1-0 win for REGENSBURG. Bergman (HEI) went nine innings, allowing just two hits and two walks, striking out seven. Aucoin (REG) conceded three hits in 7 2/3 innings.
Mannheim Tornados – Haar Disciples 7-1, 6-3
The TORNADOS won both games against the DISCIPLES on Saturday and now are tied with HEIDENHEIM in the win column of the standings. In game one they scored six runs between the third and fourth en route to a 7-1 win. Rene Franke allowed just one run on six hits in a complete game for his sixth win of the season. Sascha Lutz went three-for-five with three RBI. In the second part of the twin bill they erased an early 0-2 deficit and won 6-3. Franke this time impressed at the plate with two hits and two RBI. Marvin Appiah hit a solo homerun. With the two losses HAAR dropped back to seventh with a 5-13 record, still trailing fourth by a single game.
Gauting Indians – Saarlouis Hornets 7-11, 3-2
The HORNETS and INDIANS settled for a split on Saturday, which means that these two teams now are tied with MAINZ for fourth place in the south. In game one the SAARLOUIS offense over-powered GAUTING 11-7. In the second match Chris Clem led the team from Munich to a 3-2 victory in a more pitching dominated contest.
