DOOR Neptunus clinched first place in the Dutch Hoofdklasse after the regular season with a 7-2 win over Corendon Kinheim on Saturday. The club from Rotterdam scored four fast runs en route to an easy win on a rainy afternoon. Raily Legito doubled and drove in three. Rene Cremer had three hits for Kinheim. Diegomar Markwell (W) issued two unearned runs on five hits and two walks in six innings. Patrick Beljaards (L) surrendered ten hits, seven runs (6 ER) and two bb in six innings.

Sparta/Feyenoord avoided the sweep against the Pioniers with a 4-1 win on Saturday. Three runs in the top of the fifth decided the outcome. Rensver Jansen highlighted the rally with a two-run single. He went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI overall. Gregory Gustina (W) gave up eight hits, one run and two bb in nine innings. Arshwin Asjes (L) conceded five hits, three unearned runs and two bb in 4 2/3 innings.

Mr. Cocker HCAW shut out ADO 3-0 in a rain-shortened game. Joran Klarenbeek and Roger Luque (W) combined to allow just three hits and a walk in six scoreless innings. Dirimo Chavez, Wuilliuans Vasquez and Quensley Bazoer scored the runs for HCAW. Kevin Nieveld (L) took the loss in relief of Bobby Carrington who had issued just one hit and a pair of walks in the first three innings.

L&D Amsterdam used a nine-run third to crush the Almere Magpies 12-2 in seven innings. Kenny Berkenbosch (3-4, 3 RBI), Wesley Connor (2 RBI) and Bas Nooij hit homeruns for the Pirates. Ben Grover (W) gave up just three hits, a run and a walk in five innings. Sten van den Bedem (L) issued six hits, five runs (4 ER) and two bb in two-plus innings.
After the first ever all-star game in the Dutch Hoofdklasse on Sunday afternoon in The Hague, the league will make a break until August for the Haarlem Baseball Week and the European Championship in Germany.
