Giuseppe Mazzanti sealed the victory with a three-run homerun in the bottom of the third, just minutes after ORIOLES’ Andrea De Santis had tied the game with a RBI double. Riccardo De Santis took the loss, conceding six hits, four runs (3 ER) and two bb in four innings.

RIMINI scored six runs in the opening frame en route to a 12-3 win over REGGIO EMILIA, tying the weekend series. Mario Chiarini (3-4, 4 runs, 2 RBI) and Ivanon Coffie (1-3, 2 runs, 2 RBI) hit homeruns for the PIRATES. Luigi Carrozza drove in three. Pete Farina hit the ball over the fence for the guests. Chris Di Roma picked up the win, issuing three hits, two runs and three bb in five innings. Gregory Palanzo lasted just 1 1/3 innings on the mound, being responsible for five hits, seven runs (6 ER) and two walks.

In the rubber match of the series RIMINI again out-powered PALFINGER and won 9-4 to stay at the top of the IBL standings. Luigi Carrozza, Leonardo Serafin De Camargo and Jack Santora drove in two apiece. Sandy Patrone struck out seven batters in seven solid innings for the win. He surrendered one run on six hits and two walks. Dustin Nielsen was charged with six hits, four runs and five bb in six innings for the loss.

PARMA avoided the sweep against SAN MARINO thanks to a RBI double by David Dallospedale and a RBI fielder’s choice by Laidel Chapelli in the bottom of the fifth in game three of the series. They won by a final score of 3-1. Jhonny Carvajal went four-for-four for CARIPARMA. Carlos Duran drove in the lone run for T&A. Roberto Corradini went the distance, allowing four hits, one run and four bb in nine innings. He struck out seven and threw 121 pitches, 82 for strikes. Luca Martignoni gave up six hits, three runs and two walks in 4 1/3 innings.
Fortitudo Bologna – De Angelis Godo 10-1

BOLOGNA crushed GODO 10-1 on Saturday evening to complete the sweep and to move into a tie for first place in the IBL standings. They scored 29 runs in the three games. However DE ANGELIS actually had the better start, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a RBI infield single by Roberto Toniazzi. They held on to it until the fifth, when FORTITUDO’s offense finally came through. They scored five runs in the frame, highlighted by a Richard Austin grand slam. They added five more later on for an easy victory. Claudio Liverziani reached base five times and also hit a homerun. Eddy Garabito went three-for-four with three runs scored and three RBI. Giuseppe Norrito started for BOLOGNA and allowed four hits, a run and three walks in seven innings. Lino Luciani issued four hits, four runs and six bb in 4 1/3 innings for the loss.
