Chris Cooper led GROSSETO to an 8-4 victory against NETTUNO on Friday evening, silencing the bats of the reigning European Champions Cup winner in eight innings. He allowed just a single each in the second and eighth. He struck out seven. The offense provided him early run support thanks to two RBI apiece by Giacomo Falciani and Dario Piselli. Andrea Sgnaolin scored twice. Giuseppe Mazzanti hit a three-run homerun for NETTUNO in the ninth. Giovanni Carrara got the starting nod for DANESI and gave up seven hits, three runs and two bb in 4 2/3 innings.

Former Boston Red Sox hurler Abe Alvarez held the PIRATES to four hits and two walks in seven scoreless innings to lead REGGIO EMILIA to a 2-0 shutout. He collected six K’s. William Suarez closed it out. Taber Lee and Mattia Reginato plated the two lone runs in the third with a RBI single and a sac fly. Rafael Garcia took the loss after eight innings, seven hits, two unearned runs and a walk. He punched out nine.
Cariparma Parma – T&A San Marino 0-8

Tiago Da Silva struck out ten batters in eight scoreless innings to lead SAN MARINO to an 8-0 shutout against PARMA. He issued just five hits and a walk. William Lucena completed the five-hitter with a perfect ninth. After Carlos Duran put T&A up in front with a solo homerun in the opening frame, both teams exchanged zeros on the board until a six-run rally by last year’s champion in the eighth. Dean Rovinelli hit a three-run homerun. Marco Grifantini’s only mistake in six solid innings was the solo shot by Duran in the first. He gave up five hits, a run and two bb, while striking out eight.
Fortitudo Bologna – De Angelis Godo 10-6

FORTITUDO out-slugged GODO in a 10-6 win on Friday in the Italian Baseball League. Eddy Garabito, Claudio Liverziani and Juan Angrisano homered for the host. Liverziani drove in five. Felix Escalona picked up two RBI for DE ANGELIS. Lino Connell scored twice. Yulman Ribeiro conceded ten hits, five runs and three walks in six innings for the win. Brandon Camardese suffered the loss after surrendering seven hits, eight runs (6 ER) and two bb in 3 1/3 innings.
