GODO also won the second game of the series against the RANGERS. They received a solid performance by starter Matteo Galeotti on the mound and scored enough runs to secure a 4-1 victory.
They took the lead in the first on Michael Lockwood’s RBI single. Lockwood also scored the second run in the fourth, reaching base with a leadoff walk and coming home on a sac fly by Francesco Fuzzi. After REDIPUGLIA cut the deficit to a run through a solo shot by Baldinelli in the sixth, DE ANGELIS added a pair of insurance runs in the ninth on Robert De Franceschi’s two-run double.
Galeotti allowed one run on seven hits in six innings. Reliever Michael Nisco struck out eight (!) in three four-hit innings to receive the save. Diego Zorzenon gave up six hits, two runs and seven bb in 6 2/3 innings for the RANGERS.

After twenty losses to start the season, the RANGERS finally had reason to celebrate. They used a six-run fourth to win 9-7 against GODO on Saturday evening. DE ANGELIS tried everything and rallied for five runs after falling behind 2-9 early, but they could not come back.
Johnny Carvajal and Ivan Cechet had the big hits with a two-run and a three-run homerun in the decisive fourth frame. Enrico Cecotti drove in two. Michael Lockwood (3-4, 3 Runs) and Robert De Francheschi homered for GODO.
Andrea Cossar allowed nine hits, four runs and three walks in six-plus innings for the first win of the season. Lino Luciani was charged with ten hits, eight runs and a walk in 3 2/3 innings.
Cariparma – Montepaschi Grosseto 1-2

GROSSETO had problems to score against PARMA starter Michael Jared Natale in the beginning, but came finally through in the end to win 2-1. Jairo Ramos tied the game in the sixth with a sac fly. Kelly Ramos hit a solo shot in the seventh for the winning run. CARIPARMA had taken the lead in the second on a RBI groundout by Pascual Matos.
Yovany D’Amico got the start for MONTEPASCHI. He allowed two hits and a run in 4 2/3 innings, while striking out seven. Anthony Ferrari received the win for 2 2/3 innings of relief. PARMA loaded the bases against Leonardo D’Amico in the ninth with one out, but Chris Cooper came in and induced a 5-2-3 double play to end the contest. Natale gave up four hits, two runs and two base on balls in seven innings.

CARIPARMA got revenge in the night cap of the doubleheader. They overcame a 2-4 deficit and won through two runs in the bottom of the ninth. Riccardo Bertagnon, who already had driven in two runs early in the game, brought home Adolfo Gomez with a single to left field to bring the score to 4-4. Pascual Matos followed with a walk-off RBI single into right field for the 5-4 PARMA victory. Both runners scored with two outs.
Roberto Corradini was charged with four runs (2 ER) on four hits in seven innings. He struck out seven in his start for the home team. Andrea Lucati began for GROSSETO. He allowed two hits, three runs (2 ER) and a whopping eight walks in four innings. Mattia Salsi earned the win; Emiliano Ginanneschi blew the lead and took the loss.
Telemarket Rimini – Fortitudo Bologna 4-3

RIMINI overcame an early 0-3 deficit and surprised the dominating team of the Italian Baseball League 4-3 in ten innings.
Richard Austin opened the match with a RBI single in first for a fast BOLOGNA lead. They added two more runs in the third on Lino Connell’s homerun over the center field fence. However TELEMARKET came back. They reduced the lead through RBIs by Juan Melo and Leo Serafin De Camargo and tied the duel in the seventh on a RBI groundout by Melo. The game went into extra inning and RIMINI won it in the tenth, when Clinton Balgera homered to right field.
Matt Beech (RIM) started and gave up three hits, three runs and a walk in seven innings. Jesus Matos (BOL) was not at his best, but left the game leading after six innings, nine hits and two runs (1 ER) allowed. Gustavo Martinez received the win, Martin Vargas the loss.

FORTITUDO got back into victory lane on Saturday evening and won the series after a sloppy game, which featured a combined nine errors. Richard Austin was responsible for the go-ahead runs in the top of the seventh with a two-run homerun. He drove in three in the game. Ryner Bautista and Claudio Liverziani each scored twice.
On side of RIMINI, Manny Alexander had two RBI. Luigi Carrozza scored two times.
Fabio Betto (BOL) gave up six hit and five runs (2 ER) in four innings. Sandy Patrone (RIM) allowed six hits, five runs and two walks in 4 1/3 innings. Matteo D’Angelo received the win, Michele Quattrini took the loss.
Danesi Nettuno – T&A San Marino 5-0

NETTUNO celebrated a 5-0 shutout against SAN MARINO on Saturday afternoon. Giovanni Carrara got the win after five innings of six-hit three-walk ball, striking out six. Victor Arias relieved him and struck out six in four innings of no-hit relief. Mattew Marrone opposed Carrara for two-plus innings, allowing five hits, four runs (2 ER) and three bb.
Offensive wise Ramon Tavarez was three-for-four with two runs scored. Igor Schiavetti and Andrea Castri’ drove in runs.
Danesi Nettuno – T&A San Marino 3-6

In the second part of the twin bill, the guests from SAN MARINO prevailed in the end. They scored six runs in the last three periods and turned a 0-3 deficit into a 6-3 lead.
NETTUNO scored first, bringing three runners home in the third on two RBI singles by Igor Schiavetti and Juan Camilo in addition to a bases loaded walk by Vincent Parisi, who got the free pass in all of his four trips to the plate.
T&A brought the first runs on the board in the seventh on Dean Rovinelli’s two-run shot. They completed the comeback in the ninth. Rovinelli tied the game with a RBI single. And pinch hitter James Buccheri cleared the loaded bases with a double to make it 6-3.
Matteo Tonellato (SMA) allowed two hits, three runs and six bb in 6 1/3 innings. Carlos Richetti (NET) gave up two runs on four hits and three bb in seven innings. Luca Martignoni received the win, Massimiliano Masin the loss.
