The organizers of the MLB Academies Tournament, which was held in Toulouse, France last week, were satisfied with the event despite some rainy days, which postponed the opening match last Tuesday and the final day on Saturday. The goal of the tournament in the first place was to work with players and strengthen their development instead of a real competition. So no winning team was announced, only individual awards were given away (see below).
On the two rain dates, MLB Academy strength and conditioning coach Jeff Krushell, Colorado Rockies pitching instructor Butch Hughes and MLB International coaches Jason Holowaty and Tom Gillespie held good practice sessions, which should help the players in the future. Holowaty, MLBI’s manager of game development said afterwards, “From our point of view, it was a highly successful event for our academies and we’re looking forward to an even bigger tournament in 2010.“
We hope to publish the remaining box scores and stats later this week
