The Qualifier European Cup in Solingen, Germany started day two with a pair of rainouts. The games will be made up on Wednesday and Thursday.
Therwil Flyers – Solingen Alligators 4-3
In late afternoon/evening game the Therwil Flyers stunned the Solingen Alligators with a 4-3 victory, the first big surprise in this year’s European Cup tournaments. Three runs in the fourth got Therwil in front. An insurance run in the sixth turned out to be crucial, when Solingen only managed two runs in the eighth to cut the deficit to a run. They also had a runner on third in the ninth, but Chris Beck flied out to left field to end the contest. Moritz Buttgereit scored twice for the Alligators. Stefan Koller had two hits and a run for the Flyers. Lukas Croton (W) allowed seven hits, three runs (1 ER) and a walk in 8 2/3 innings. Andre Hughes (L) issued five hits, three runs and two bb in four innings.
