The Qualifier for the European Championship Cadets U15 in Bratislava, Slovakia continued with the second day of the first round on Wednesday. Five games were on the schedule following the rainout on Tuesday. However one game weren’t finished with dark suspending the contest between Switzerland and Slovakia (9-16) in the sixth inning. It will be resumed on Thursday morning.
In the morning Poland crushed Hungary 30-3, scoring 11 runs in the first and 16 in the fourth. Dominik Gajdzinski hit a home run, scored four times and drove in six. Adrian Krawczyk crossed the plate for five runs and threw an inning on the mound. Radoslaw Jozwiak got the win. David Hermann had to take the loss.
In the second game Poland lost 10-11 to Switzerland. Poland tied the game with a four-run rally in the seventh, but then lost the extra frame 3-4. Miles Fallon had a two-run triple in the decisive top of the eighth. He collected also two doubles and five RBI. Colin Bruce struck out nine, scored three runs and got the rare save after starting the game. Nik Diener earned the win, Szymon Garus the loss.
In the second afternoon game France improved to 2-0 with a 6-5 win over Austria. An error with two outs in the bottom of the sixth turned out to be costly for Austria. Fabian Kovacs scored the lone run. Shortstop Jules Fontaine had two hits, including a double. Guillaume Raphet threw 1 2/3 innings of perfect relief for the win. Angelo Thau got charged with the loss.
In the evening Slovenia scored ten runs in the top of the third in a 17-7 victory over Serbia. David Lajevic issued five hits, six runs and eight base on balls in five frames. He also went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and three RBI at the plate. Domen Znoj got four runs and three RBI. Vladan Jovanovic had four RBI for Serbia. Lazar Radonjic took the loss.
