Only three of the four scheduled games were played on the first day of the competition at the Qualifier European Championship Cadets U15 in Bratislava, Slovakia. The contest between Poland and Switzerland had to be postponed till Wednesday due to rain.
In the morning France had defeated Slovenia 15-6. The French squad scored three runs in the first, second, fourth and sixth to run away with the victory. Nicolas Robinet went 4-for-5 with three runs and five RBI. Leo Jiminian crossed the plate four times.
In the afternoon Austria picked up an easy 12-2 win over Serbia. After breaking a 2-2 tie with two runs in the third, Austria put on seven runs on the board in the fifth to end the game early. Tyler Pfortner threw a complete game. Nicholas Schadler scored three runs.
In the evening Slovakia received a 12-strikeout performance by Branislav Bukva, who issued just one hit and four walks in a 10-0 shutout against Hungary. He helped his own cause with two RBI. Six runs in the second decided the outcome early.
