O’Brien Taylor and Joseph Overby are going to join the 1st Baseball-Bundesliga team
by Christian Weiland
PULHEIM – The Pulheim Gophers made a big step towards their upcoming season by signing right handed pitcher Joseph Overby and infielder O’Brien Taylor. The two Americans will join US coach Ben Bizier who enters his third full year with the club and who was a major contributor in the move due to his relationship with the two players.
“I’ve known Joseph [Overby] for about 4 years, and I’ve always known him to be a ‘Ballplayer.’ What’s even more than that is how great of a person he is. He knows how to play the game the right way and I’m so excited to be able to write his name in my lineup card. “
“Since I came back to Carolina in 2005, I heard O’Brien Taylor’s name quite a few times. There have only been good things said about his work ethic and his ability to make things happen. I’m hoping he can come in here and prove his worth both with the bat and with his glove. From everything I know about O’B, He is a guy who just makes a team better.”
Since his arrival Bizier led his team from the third to the first league in Germany and hopes that the two players can be major factors in the team success as well as in developing and shaping an athletic program that will help Baseball in Pulheim and Germany.
Overby and Taylor arrived last week and started practicing with the team.
