Prospects in 2009 – Swen Huijer – GCL Red Sox

During the winter months we are going to look back at the performances of Europeans, who played in the United States during the 2009 season.

Birth date: 11/07/1990 in Haarlem, Netherlands
Throws/Bats: Right/Right
Organization: Boston Red Sox
Position: Pitcher

2009 Season: For the second straight year, Swen Huijer spent in the Gulf Coast League, appearing in 13 games for the Boston Red Sox affiliate. He posted a 1-1 record with an ERA of 3.67 and 20 strikeouts in 27 innings. He again showed excellent control, conceding just one walk and a hit batter this year.
