2009 Season: Loek van Mil began the year still rehabbing after having suffered a torn ligament arm injury preparing for the 2008 Olympics. He kicked off the 2009 season, his fourth in the Minor Leagues, with Fort Myers Miracle of the Florida State League. He had an ERA of 2.86 in 25 appearances, striking out 23 batters (17 walks) in 34 2/3 innings and stayed in High-A until mid-August. He was promoted to Double-A New Britain Rock Cats of the Eastern League for the reminder of the year. He went 1-1 with an ERA of 2.45 in eight games. He struck out five in 7 1/3 innings, walking six. In November he was among six players to get added to the 40-man roster of the Minnesota Twins, which also means he gets an invitation to the 2010 Major League spring training.
