Prospects in 2009 – Jakub Sladek – GCL Phillies

During the winter months we are going to look back at the performances of Europeans, who played in the United States during the 2009 season.

Birth date: 02/17/1990 in Prague, Czech Republic
Throws/Bats: Right/Left
Organization: Philadelphia Phillies
Position: First Base

2009 Season: Jakub Sladek made his professional debut this summer in the Gulf Coast League. He had three hits, including two doubles, in 16 at-bats, scoring three times. He walked in three of his 19 plate appearances and struck out eight times. After these nine games he was released in July by the Phillies. In September he made two appearances for the Czech National Team at the IBAF Baseball World Cup, going 0-3 and getting hit by pitches twice.
