2009 Season: The 21-year-old Alex Liddi batted .345 (OBP .411/SLG .594) with 23 homeruns, 44 doubles, five triples, 97 runs scored and 104 RBI in 129 games in the California League, his fourth professional season. He was in the top five of the league in all major offensive categories. Liddi received the George M. Trautman Award as the best player in the California League, a trophy which is award by Minor League Baseball and the Topps Company. Baseball America ranked him in sixth place among the Top 20 Prospects in the league. The Mariners also named Liddi Minor League Player of the Year. He also played for Italy in the 2009 World Baseball Classic (2 GP, 3-8, 2B, R, 2 RBI), but missed the IBAF Baseball World Cup.
