After last weekend saw a prelude to the 2011 season with a three-game series between DOOR Neptunus and L&D Amsterdam, the Dutch Hoofdklasse is having its first full game day today. Four games are scheduled for 7.45 CET. The three-game series will continue on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
Two matchups will probably get the most attention. The promoted UVV, which are considered as a playoff contender thanks to several high-profile additions during the offseason, will square off with the Vaessen Pioniers, formerly known as “Konica Minolta Pioniers”. Also first leader L&D Amsterdam is facing Mr. Cocker HCAW, which hope to finally crack the top four for playoffs participation. Meanwhile Sparta/Feyenoord Rotterdam takes on local rival DOOR Neptunus and Corendon Kinheim plays against ADO.
