Preliminary Round of Italian Winter League ends with Trofeo Cariparo
The preliminary round of the Italian Winter League will be completed this Sunday in Rovigo. The winner of the Trofeo Cariparo tournaments will clinch the eighth and final berth for the Italian Winter League finals next weekend in Bologna.
Ponzano and Godo had won their groups and face off with Castelfranco Veneto and Cervignano in the semi-finals. Uponor Rovigo and Junior Ravenna determine fifth place in a doubleheader.
The winners of the other four tournaments San Martino Junior, Athletics Bologna, BC Cairese and Junior Grosseto qualified directly for the Winter League Finals. Praissola, BSC Arezzo and Tipografia Parma received wild cards as best second place finisher to complete the field of eight. Sam Martino is the defending champion.
