The offseason in the Italian Baseball League is about to heat up. MONTEPASCHI GROSSETO announced a few decisions this week. New manager Ruggero Bagialemani returned from Cuba and completed his coaching staff with Humberto Casamayor and Antonio Acea, who will join Paolo Minozzi (bench coach), Alessandro Cipriani and Emiliano Ginanneschi (pitching coach).
The first player transfers are also completed. Juan Figueroa will remain with the club in 2010. Kelly Ramos leans to an extension too. Yovany D’Amico also is expected back. Bagialemani also welcomes three new players. Liviston Santaniello (Reggio Emilia), Vinicio Sparagna (Anzio, Serie A2) and Stefano Cavallini (Livorno, Serie A2) join the team for 2010.
Luca Bischeri already had announced his retirement, but the club hopes he will continue his active career. On his way out seems Andrea Sgnaolin according to Baseball.it, as BOLOGNA is interested in him as a replacement for Giovanni Pantaleoni. The future of Chris Cooper and Jairo Ramos is not known yet.
GROSSETO had missed the playoffs in the 2009 edition of the IBL with a 17-25 record. They last won the championship in 2007.
