Players from European Baseball appearing in Caribbean Winter Leagues

We are mostly reporting about the ALB ORKAS in the Venezuelan Liga Paralela. However a bunch of players from around the leagues in European Baseball are currently having appearances in Caribbean Winter Leagues.

Starting pitcher Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez of the SOLINGEN ALLIGATORS and the German National Team is getting playing time in the Dominican Winter League. He is on the roster of the TIGRES DEL LICEY. He pitched in one inning so far, allowing a walk, while striking out one.

The Venezuelan Winter League features a big pool of players, who were in Europe this past summer. Especially CARDENALES DE LARA is having a bunch of well-known people on their roster. There are from the Italian Baseball Leagues, starter Giovanni Carrara (18.2 IP, 1-1, ERA 6.75, 6 SO, 6 BB), shortstop Luis Ugueto (AVG .347/OBP .450/SLG .449) and outfielder Carlos Duran (nine games, two at bats). Besides these three, the pitching coach and starting pitcher for the Spanish champion MARLINS PUERTO CRUZ, Renny Duarte (5 IP, ERA 1.80, 3 SO, 2 BB), is also playing for CARDENALES.

There are a few more in Venezuela. Outfielder Lino Connell (.111/.314/.111) is batting .111 in 13 games for the CARIBES DE ANZOATEGUI. First baseman Orlando Munoz (.300/.364/.300) has appeared in eight games for AGUILAS DEL ZULIA. Fellow IBL-player Horacio Estrada, who won the Italian championship with T&A SAN MARINO a few weeks ago, is pitching for his third team this year. He made four starts in the Mexican League (24 IP, ERA 4.50) before heading to Italy. Now he is playing for the TIGRES DE ARAGUA (0-1, 19 IP, ERA 2.37, 11 SO, 2 BB) in Venezuela.

Fernando Quijada of the Spanish club CB SANT BOI pitched 3 1/3 innings of two-hit relief so far, as a member of TIBURONES DE LA GUARIA. He has struck out three. The Dutch National Team member and third baseman for the WASHINGTON NATIONALS minor league affiliates Yurendell De Caster is on the roster for BRAVOS DE MAGARITA in Venezuela.
