Perth Heat completes Sweep over Melbourne Aces

The Perth Heat continued its torrid pace at the plate on Sunday, completing a sweep over the Melbourne Aces with a 12-2 rout. Ten runs in the first three frames decided the outcome early. Luke Hughes, Tim Kennelly, Evan McArthur (grand slam), Ronnie Welty and Ryne Price hit homeruns. It was the fourth win by Perth against Melbourne in the last three days, as the Heat out-scored the Aces 56-25. Perth now has won eight games in a row, which has moved them back into first place in the standings.

Besides this make-up game of Thursday’s rainout, the Canberra Cavalry played the so-called “Fight the Floods” game against an all-star team on Sunday. They raised over $11,000 with gate takings, raffles, parking, silent auction, canteen and other donations to support the victims of the flood in Queensland. The whole series between the Cavalry and the Bandits in Brisbane was postponed due to the bad weather.

  1. Perth Heat 22-14
