The Sydney Blue Sox and the Perth Heat celebrated spectacular victories in the Australian Baseball League on Friday. The leading Blue Sox overcame a 2-5 deficit and won 6-5 against the Adelaide Bite thanks to a walk-off sac bunt by Joshua Dean in the bottom of the tenth. Michael Lysaught scored the game-winner from second base after catcher Brandon Bantz threw the ball away. Sydney had tied the game with a two-run homerun by Mark Holland in the eighth. Todd Gossage went 4-for-4 for Adelaide.
The 13-9 Heat win over the Melbourne Aces didn’t lack any drama either. The people in attendance saw eight homeruns overall in the game, including two by Luke Hughes who drove in three and scored thrice for Perth. Mitchell Graham went 3-for-5 with a homerun and four RBI. The Heat led the game off with three runs, but fell into a 3-7 hole after the opening period anyway. They came back to tie the contest in the seventh on a wild pitch and took the lead one frame later. Justin Huber hit a grand slam for Melbourne. Matt Lawman drove in four too.
