The Italian Baseball League club Cariparma has completed its roster for the upcoming season. They have added right-handed pitcher Pedro Francisco Orta to the pitching staff. He is supposed to provide depth after relievers Mattia Salsi and Filippo Mori have left the club. He is the sixth new player for Parma after Gustavo Martinez, Juan Camilo, Manuel Gasparri, Marco Yepez and Justin Cicatello.
The 27-year-old Venezuelan Orta, who also has an Italian passport, came to Italy in 2003 joining Modena BC for four seasons. He then moved on to T&A San Marino, where he stayed until last year. In 2009 the reliever had a 2-3 record with an ERA of 9.53 in eleven appearances. He struck out eight batters in 17 innings, walking ten.
