Parma ties Rimini in Coppa Italia Standings
The first round of the Coppa Italia with the fifth to seventh ranked clubs after the regular season in the Italian Baseball League continued this weekend with a tournament in Parma. Host CARIPARMA won both their games on Saturday to tie RIMINI for the lead in the Coppa Italia standings. The last tournament of the preliminary round takes place next weekend in Godo.

RIMINI won their third game in the Coppa Italia, beating GODO 10-2 on Friday. Leo Serafin De Camargo went three-for-five with two homeruns, three runs scored and four RBI to lead the TELEMARKET offense. Luigi Carrozza drove in three. Filippo Crociati had four hits. Robert De Franceschi and Roberto Toniazzi hit back-to-back homeruns for DE ANGELIS in the top of the seventh.
Chris Di Roma struck out ten in six scoreless innings to pick up the win. He allowed just two hits and a walk. Lino Luciani gave up five runs (3 ER) on seven hits in the loss.

RIMINI lost for the first time in the Coppa Italia, when they were defeated by CARIPARMA on Saturday afternoon. Michele Gerali drove in the decisive two runs in the bottom of the eighth with a triple to lead them to 8-6 victory.
PARMA had taken a 6-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth, after putting six runs on the board in just one frame. But RIMINI wasn’t scared, as they answered with four runs to even the score in the top of the seventh. But the last word had Gerali and CARIPARMA.
Sandy Patrone (RIM) allowed seven hits, five runs (4 ER) and a walk in 5 1/3 innings. Filippo Mori (PAR) was charged with nine hits, two runs (1 ER) and a base on balls in six innings. Stefano Bazzarini received the win, Roberto Cabalisti the loss.

PARMA also won the second game on Saturday at the Coppa Italia, defeating GODO 9-6. They took a 4-1 lead through four runs in the top of the fifth on four RBI singles. Then, in the last two periods, things got a bit wild. After CARIPARMA built up the advantage by three runs in the top of the eighth, DE ANGELIS countered with a five-run rally in the bottom of the frame to cut the deficit to a run. But PARMA added two more runs in the top of the ninth to seal the victory.
Alessandro Fanfoni went two-for-four with a homerun and three RBI. Stefano De Simoni scored twice for PARMA. Paolo Tanesini had two hits, two runs and a RBI for GODO.
Roberto Corradini allowed five hits, four runs (2 ER) and a walk in seven-plus innings, striking out eight. Matteo Galeotti was responsible for seven hits, four runs and two bb in five innings to take the loss.
