Parma moves into Playoff Spot after Sweep

CARIPARMA scored four runs in the last two periods in an 8-4 victory against SAN MARINO to complete the three-game sweep. They also won the season series and moved into fourth place with the same record as T&A. Orlando Munoz went four-for-five with a homerun and four RBI. Leonardo Zileri scored three times, Adolfo Gomez twice.

James Buccheri (SMA) tied the game temporarily with a two-run homer in the seventh.

Roberto Corradini (PAR) picked up the win after allowing six hits, four runs (3 ER) and a walk in seven innings. Matteo Tonellato (SMA) gave up six hits, three runs (1 ER) and two base on balls in 4 1/3 innings. Luca Martignoni took the loss.

After losing on Friday, GROSSETO defeated BOLOGNA on Saturday afternoon. They scored three runs in the first and put runs on the board in every of the last five frames to win 9-2. Raul Marval (2-3, 2 bb) reached four times, scored twice and drove in two. Gabriele Ermini also had two RBI. The number one and two hitters in the lineup Jorge Nunez and Davide Dallospedale scored four of the nine runs.

Chris Cooper allowed just two unearned runs on four hits and two walks in seven innings for the win. Cody Cillo was charged with six hits, five runs (4 ER) and two bb in 5 2/3 innings.

MONTEPASCHI prevailed in a thrilling slugfest in the nightcap of the doubleheader and won the series against FORTITUDO through an 11-8 extra inning victory. They decided the outcome in the tenth on consecutive RBI singles by Gabriele Ermini, Luca Bischeri and Andrea Sgnaolin. BOLOGNA had tied the game in the bottom of the on a RBI single by Joseph Mazzuca. Lorenzo Avagnina had provided the 8-7 lead in the seventh for GROSSETO with a solo shot.

Jairo Ramos drove in three for the guest squad. Ermini had four hits. Richard Austin scored three times for BOLOGNA. Austin, Mazzuca and Lino Connell combined for seven RBIs.

Andrea Lucati (GRO) allowed five hits, six runs and five bb in four-plus innings. Fabio Betto (BOL) gave up seven hits, five runs (1 ER) and three walks in 3 2/3 innings. Emiliano Ginanneschi picked up the win. Fabio Milano took the loss.

RIMINI stopped a GODO rally right in time and held on to a 7-6 victory to win the series two games to one. They had taken the lead through a six-run fourth. Mattia Campanini (3 RBI), Amaury Garcia (2 RBI) and Juan Melo (back-to-back) hit homeruns in the frame  DE ANGELIS cut the deficit to a run in the bottom of the ninth on a three-run homerun by Danilo Sanchez (4 RBI), his second of the game. Mike Lockwood also homered for GODO.

Sandy Patrone received the win after giving up five hits, three runs and four walks in 5 1/3 innings. Matteo Galeotti was responsible for seven hits, six runs (5 ER) and three bb in 3 1/3 innings to take the loss.

Danesi Nettuno – Rangers Redipuglia 3-2

NETTUNO narrowly beat the RANGERS 3-2 on Saturday afternoon. DANESI scored three times in the first four periods through RBI singles by Giuseppe Mazzanti and Renato Imperiali in addition to a sac fly by Luis Ugueto. REDIPUGLIA tried to come back and cut the deficit to a run in the sixth on a solo homerun by Johnny Carvajal and a RBI double Massimiliano Sartori. One period later they loaded the bases, but failed to bring a runner home.

Giovanni Carrara pitched five scoreless innings for the win. He allowed just two hits and two walks, while striking out four. Andrea Cossar (RED) gave up ten hits, three runs and four bb in six innings.

Danesi Nettuno – Rangers Redipuglia 13-2 (7)

NETTUNO completed the sweep Saturday night with an easy 13-2 victory against REDIPUGLIA. They produced 15 hits in the seven innings and scored seven runs alone in the third. Vincent Parisi went two-for-two with two runs scored and three RBI. Giuseppe Mazzanti, Igor Schiavetti and Andrea Castri’ each drove in two.

Carlos Richetti (NET) struck out ten in five innings for the win. He allowed six hits, two runs and two walks. Francesco Nardi (RED) gave up three hits, three runs and three walks in 1 1/3 innings.
