Panama rallies against Mexico for second World Cup of Baseball triumph
Panama recovered from their loss against the United States on Thursday and overcame a 0-2 deficit to win 3-2. It is the third loss for Mexico at the World Cup of Baseball.
The Mexicans got off to a hot start, as they scored two runs on a homerun by Lorenzo BUELNA in the first frame. But it was the last time, that they reached home in the ballgame. Panama cut the deficit in a half by a RBI-single of Audes DE LEON FLORES in the third. They completed the comeback with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth frame. Sherman OBANDO got the big hit with a two-run-double.
Abraham ATENCIO CASTILLO (W 1-0) allowed two runs on seven hits in six innings. Miguel GOMEZ MARTINEZ closed out the game for the save.
Emil KAMAR LAZCANO (L 0-1) gave up six hits, three runs (2 ER) and a walk in five-plus innings.
