Four days before opening the 2011 season against the Bonn Capitals the Paderborn Untouchables revealed three new players in a local newspaper report. It was an open secret that Craig Pycock would join the U’s after leaving the Mannheim Tornados. The 32-year-old Australian with British passport played three years with the Saarlouis Hornets and three for the Tornados since coming to Germany in 2005. He has a .284/.381/.356 batting line in 137 games in the Baseball-Bundesliga. As a pitcher he has a career ERA of 2.69 in 73 2/3 innings in the regular season.
Additionally Brian Fields and Ryan Hall will replace Daniel Meier and Nik Kosach in the foreign player spots. Fields is 24 years old and from Idaho. He is going to be the new starting pitcher for game two each week. He also has pitched in Australia in the past. The 23-year-old Hall is from Fort Myers, Florida. He is going to be used as an outfielder. Head coach Stefan Fechtig said that they are talking to a third American player, hoping to add him soon to the 2011 roster.
