The ORKAS have forgotten how to win. On Thursday they lost 5-6 against the PIRATES and dropped to five games under .500 in the 2008 Liga Paralela season. However it was close. They overcame a fast 0-2 deficit and led 5-3 after scoring two runs in the top of the eighth on Gabriel Montero’s fifth homerun of the season, when PITTSBURGH rallied for a last time and decided the outcome through three runs in the bottom of the frame, including a two-run homerun by Michael Trinidad.
Montero led the ALB with three hits and two RBI. Emilio Linarez went two for three with a double and a RBI. Deivis Freites, Gerson Manzanillo, Israel Diaz and Andres Lizarazo each scored once. Steven van Groningen got the start and allowed five hits, two runs and three walks in 3 2/3 innings. He struck out one. Alexis Fumero relieved him in the fourth with two men and cleaned up without damage. He stayed in for 2 1/3 scoreless innings, before Nelson Santander took over and got hit with the loss. He conceded two hits, four runs and two base on balls in 1 2/3 innings.
