Shortstop David Rivas homered twice and drove in four runs to lead the ORKAS to a 9-2 victory against LEONES on Wednesday in game one of a doubleheader in the Liga Paralela. Bryon Bell and David Nino, who scored three times, also hit the ball over the outfield fence. Zair Koeiman led off and went three for four with a double and two runs scored. Daniel Bittar had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Sytse Visbsen drove in one.
Wilmer Alvarez (W 3-1) picked up his third victory of the season, going six strong innings, allowing just two runs (1 ER) on four hits and a walk. He struck out three. He also produced nine groundouts. Marwin Gonzalez homered against him in the sixth inning. Yulman Ribeiro closed out the win with a scoreless seventh inning, striking out two.

The second-ranked team in the league fought back in match number two of the day. They scored nine runs in the first two periods en route to a 14-5 win. CARACAS has lost just one of the last ten games and is currently even leading the standings of the second half with a 15-3 record. On Wednesday afternoon, Luis Sumoza, Luis Segovia and Leonardo Gil combined for three homeruns and ten RBIs in the rout.
Bryon Bell led the ORKAS with his second long ball of the day, his seventh overall. He had two hits, scored twice and drove in two. Elias Tovar, Israel Diaz (three walks in the game) and Sansilverio each had a RBI. Gerson Manzanillo went two for three with a walk, scoring once.
Carlos Farias (L 1-4) gave up a whopping eight runs (7 ER) on eight hits in 1 2/3 innings, while striking out two. Yorby Marcano relieved him and was able to stop the bleeding for a few frames, before the LEONES offense added five runs against him and Jesus Perez. Marcano struck out six in 3 1/3 innings.
