North: Solingen with easy wins against Stealers

Paderborn Untouchables - Dortmund Wanderers 5-2, 5-2
The UNTOUCHABLES are off to a perfect start. They defeated the promoted WANDERERS twice with a 5-2 score. Eugen Heilman defeated Rene Herlitzius (8 IP, 10 H, 5 SO) in game one and the offense overcame a 1-2 deficit after two innings. Octavio Medina hit a tying RBI-double in the third. Sascha Brockmeyer scored the go-ahead run in the fourth. Josh Livley and Andreas Becker got the runs for DORTMUND.

The second match featured the same result, but a different game. PADERBORN took a fast 3-0 lead and added two insurance runs in the end to stop a rally by DORMTUND, which had cut the deficit to a run. Daniel Hinz received the win with six-plus innings of work. Michael Kaber (L 0-1) allowed three runs on five hits in the first two frames.

Julius Uelschen and George Enzian each had four hits for the U’s.

Neunkirchen Nightmares - Bonn Capitals 10-21, 1-5
Three touchdowns for BONN and a touchdown and a field goal for NEUNKIRCHEN. But wait, this isn’t football. The CAPITALS crushed the NIGHTMARES in eight innings for their first win of the season. With the score 11-10 after seven innings, BONN put ten runs on the board in the eighth to stop all thoughts of a successful comeback by the home team. Jon Marshall (three hits, five RBI) and Lennart Waller hit homeruns. Riccardo Migliore had three hits. Mirko Heid received the win, Pablo Reveaud the loss.

The second part of the doubleheader was not that lopsided. NEUNKIRCHEN took a 1-0 lead in the third, but BONN came back and tied the came through a RBI-single by Jan Jacob in the fourth. Jon Marshall finished his great day at the plate with a two-run-single for the go-ahead runs in the seventh. Two more runs in the ninth concluded the sweep. Martin Amparo struck out ten in a complete game victory. Christoph Bardenheuer took the loss.

The ALLIGATORS got two easy wins on the second game day and sit at the top of the standings with a perfect 3-0 record. Andre Hughes threw six two-hit innings in the first game for his first victory of the season. The offense provided him with more than enough run support, scoring five runs in the first two periods and added six more in the fifth and sixth to end the contest due to ten-run-rule. Marcel Brede took the loss.

The second game began like the first one. SOLINGEN took a fast 4-0 lead after two frames and cruised to a 9-2 victory. The STEALERS only threatened in the sixth, when they loaded the bases with one out, but a double play stopped the potential rally. Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez pitched seven innings for his second win in 2008. Thomas Haugh received the loss. Florian Goetze had three his and four RBI on the day. Gordon Shaw scored twice for the guests.

Cologne Cardinals - Hanover Regents 11-9
The CARDINALS received their first victory of the season, winning a slugfest against the REGENTS, who had surprised at the opening weekend with a sweep. The second part of the doubleheader was rained out.
