North: Lopsided sweeps for U’s, HSV and Wanderers
Bonn Capitals – Paderborn Untouchables 1-8, 1-14
One week before their showdown against the ALLIGATORS, the UNTOUCHABLES celebrated two lopsided wins on the road against the CAPITALS. In game one they built up a fast 4-0 lead after four innings and added four insurance runs after the seventh. Eugen Heilman received another win in his duel with fellow national team hurler Mirko Heid.
In the second part of the doubleheader, Beningo Ozuna allowed just one hit after the first inning to receive the victory against Martin Amparo. PADERBORN put three runs on the board in the first frame and continued to score afterwards, ending the contest after seven innings due to ten-run rule.
HSV Stealers – Neunkirchen Nightmares 13-3, 8-1
The STEALERS left last place in the northern conference of the standings with two clear victories against a helpless squad from NEUNKIRCHEN. However the first match was not that lopsided as the score indicates. They needed a five-run sixth to take a 7-2 lead. Six runs in the eighth decided the outcome definitely. Peter John Frates and Michael Fliedner each had three RBI. Marcel Brede got the win, Hendrik Tschuschke the loss.
The HSV scored five runs between the second and fourth period in the second match to beat the NIGHTMARES 8-1. Shawn Pynn had two hits and drove in two. Andrew White pitched eight innings for his first victory in Germany. Chris Bardenheuer took the loss.
Hanover Regents – Dortmund Wanderers 1-9, 0-10
The WANDERERS put on pressure on the CAPITALS and the CARDINALS with a sweep in HANOVER, scoring 19 runs in the doubleheader. In game one they used a six-run fifth to win 9-1. Josh Lively hit a two-run homerun. Rene Herlitzius received the win, Sean Bakuniec the loss.
In the second match DORMTUND profited from a bunch of REGENTS errors to win easily 10-0 in eight innings. Matt Kemp won the duel against Mike Lantzy and the offense produced another big inning, scoring five runs in the seventh.
The ALLIGATORS and the CARDINALS had the weekend off.
