Nettuno keeps up winning in Semi-Final Round

NETTUNO moved to 4-1 in the semi-final round of the Italian Baseball League, after defeating SAN MARINO 8-4 on Friday. They now have a two-game lead in the standings in front of three 2-3 clubs.
DANESI took the lead in the fifth, scoring five runs on six hits, including a two-run single by Igor Schiavetti. Carlos Duran went three-for-four with a homerun, three runs scored and two RBI. Adolfo Matamoros drove in two for T&A. Martin Vazquez had three hits.
Nelson Cruz pitched six solid innings for the win, allowing eight hits, three runs (2 ER) and three walks, striking out four. Horacio Estrada struck out nine in 4 1/3 innings, but took the loss, after giving up four runs on five hits and a base on balls.
Fortitudo Bologna – Montepaschi Grosseto 6-4

A few minutes after GROSSETO evened the score in the top of the sixth, BOLOGNA decided the outcome through five runs in the bottom of the seventh in a 6-4 victory. MONTEPASCHI tried to come back in the ninth, but the rally was halted right in time.
Ryner Bautista had the big hit with a three-run homerun. Daniele Frignani, Manuel Gasparri and Diego Bonci also had RBIs for BOLOGNA. Andrea De Santis drove in two for GROSSETO.
Jesus Matos missed the complete game by two outs, finishing with twelve strikeouts in 8 1/3 innings. He allowed two runs on nine hits. Lincoln Mikkelsen took the loss, giving up four hits, five runs and two bb in 6 1/3 innings.

RIMINI took over first place in the Coppa Italia standings once again on Friday, beating GODO 10-5. They used a seven-run sixth to overcome a 1-5-deficit to seal the win on the first day of the tournament in Godo.
Luigi Carrozza (2 runs, 2 RBI) and Natera each hit homeruns for TELEMARKET. Mario Chiarini reached four times, scored twice and drove in two. Manuel Marussich (2-4, 3 RBI) and Federico Rubboli homered for DE ANGELIS. Robert De Franceschi scored two times.
Sandy Patrone got the start for RIMINI and lasted three innings, getting charged with three runs on five hits. Reliever Brian Orizzi picked up the win. Lino Luciani allowed seven hits, six runs (4 ER) and two walks in five-plus innings for the loss.
