T&A San Marino
T&A San Marino has added a second foreign pitcher besides Henry Bonilla for the upcoming season in the Italian Baseball League. The 28-year-old Venezuelan right-hander spent seven seasons in the minor leagues, pitching for the Seattle Mariners organization between Rookie and Triple-A ball from 2001 to 2007. He has a career ERA of 3.89 in 200 appearances. He struck out 410 batters in 446 1/3 innings, walking 155. He pitched for Bravos de Margarita in Venezuela this winter.
Cariparma Parma
Besides pitcher Jesus Silva the reigning champion Cariparma Parma is adding outfielder Rodney Medina from Venezuela to the 2011 roster. The 29-year-old began his professional career in the Toronto Blue Jays organization in 2001 before entering the independent league circuit five seasons later. He batted a combined .297/.354/.407 in 604 games. He is going to replace Juan Camilo in the Parma outfield. Additionally the club might be interested in bringing back Kasey Olenberger to strengthen the pitching staff in regards of the European Cup.
North East Knights
The North East Knights have signed the 25-year-old first baseman Rene Alexander Leveret. He was born in St. Maarten and also has a French passport. He was a member of the Minnesota Twins organization from 2007 to 2009, taking the field for the affiliates in the Appalachian, Midwest and Florida State Leagues. In 2010 he played for Quebec in the independent CanAm League. He batted .309/.340/.440 in 42 games last year.
Danesi Nettuno
After adding Juan Camilo and Kelly Ramos in the last couple of days, Danesi Nettuno stays in the Italian Baseball League for reinforcements in the foreign player department. They are bringing in Olmo Perez Rosario, who took the field for the Catania Warriors in 2010. He batted .318/.373/.519 with six homeruns, 13 doubles, 29 runs and 28 RBI in 42 games. The 30-year-old was mainly used at shortstop last year. But he can play any position in the infield and could be used at first base according to the report by Baseball.it.
