DANESI NETTUNO defeated UNIPOL BANCA BOLOGNA 3-2 in extra innings on Wednesday and eliminated the regular season winner from the playoffs. Even when FORTITUDO wins the last two remaining games of the series they cannot climb into one of the top two spots in the semi-final standings.
T&A SAN MARINO moved into second with a victory against GROSSETO. But MONTEPASCHI is at home on Friday and Saturday, still with the opportunity to clinch a berth in the Italian Series for a chance to defend their 2007 championship.

Juan Camilo ended all hopes for BOLOGNA with a walk off RBI single in the bottom of the tenth, plating Luis Ugueto, who had reached with a leadoff walk. NETTUNO won 3-2.
The game was tied till the end of the fourth. UNIPOL BANCA had taken a 2-1 lead in the top of the frame, scoring on a throwing error by shortstop Ugueto and a RBI single by Manuel Gasparri. But DANESI came right back and evened the score with a RBI single by Igor Schiavetti.
Carlos Richetti (NET) struck out 13 in nine innings, allowing six hits, two runs (1 ER) and four walks. He threw a whopping 166 pitches, 108 were strikes. Fabio Betto (BOL) gave up five hits, two runs and a base on balls in 5 1/3 innings. Marco Costantini picked up the win. Fabio Milano took the loss.

SAN MARINO overcame a 0-2 deficit to defeat GROSSETO 3-2 and is one victory away from reaching the Italian Series. Adolfo Matamoros two-run homerun in the bottom of the seventh decided the match.
They had cut the deficit to a half in the sixth through Max Di Biase’s RBI single. Kelly Ramos had brought MONTEPASCHI a 2-0 lead in the fourth with a two-run shot over the fence in center field.
Luca Martignoni (SMA) gave up six hits, two runs and three bb in six innings. Peter Nyari replaced him in the seventh and received the win for three innings of one-hit relief. Emiliano Ginanneschi took the loss, allowing nine hits, three runs and a walk in eight innings.
