On Wednesday the Italian Baseball League club Telemarket Rimini introduced starting pitcher Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez and outfielder Laidel Chapelli as new players for the upcoming season. One day later opponent Danesi Nettuno published a report on their website, claiming Marquez-Ramirez has a contract with the European Cup Champion too. However Mister-Baseball.com has heard that in opinion of the player, the agreement only was valid for the 2009 season and he is going to play for Rimini.
Nettuno has a different take on the case. Sport director Alberto De Carolis said on the team website that the club already reached an agreement with the left-handed Marquez-Ramirez in April 2009, when he was pitching for the Solingen Alligators. But the transfer didn’t receive the green light since the German Baseball-Bundesliga already had kicked off its new season. Due to the fact that Danesi still had interest the club made a proposal for 2010.
At this point the views of both sides vary. Marquez-Ramirez doesn’t think he has a 2010 contract with Nettuno and signed with Rimini. On the other hand De Carolis and Danesi submitted the paperwork to the Italian Baseball and Softball Federation (FIBS) in early January and apparently already sent detailed information (arrival date, practice times, dates) to the German National pitcher too. De Carolis emphasized that they will continue to fight, even if they have to go through a regular court room.
